Notifications

Global Watch keeps you informed about important events through a comprehensive notification system. Configure alerts to stay updated on project changes, team activity, and system events.

Overview

The notification system provides:

  • In-App Notifications - Real-time updates within the platform
  • Email Notifications - Important alerts delivered to your inbox
  • Custom Preferences - Control which notifications you receive
  • Activity Feed - Centralized view of all updates

Notification Types

Project Notifications

Stay informed about project changes:

Notification Center

Accessing Notifications

  1. Click the bell icon in the header
  2. View recent notifications
  3. Click a notification to see details
  4. Mark as read or dismiss

Notification Badge

The notification icon shows:

  • Red badge - Unread notifications count
  • No badge - All notifications read

Managing Notifications

In the notification center:

  • Mark as Read - Clear the unread indicator
  • Mark All as Read - Clear all unread notifications
  • View All - See complete notification history
  • Settings - Configure preferences

  1. Go to SettingsNotifications
  2. Or click Settings in the notification center

For each notification type, choose:

Quick Settings

Use quick toggles for:

  • Mute All - Temporarily disable all notifications
  • Email Digest - Receive daily/weekly summary instead of individual emails
  • Critical Only - Only receive critical notifications

Email Notifications

Email Preferences

Configure email delivery:

  1. Go to SettingsNotificationsEmail
  2. Set preferences:
    • Immediate - Send as events occur
    • Daily Digest - Summary once per day
    • Weekly Digest - Summary once per week

Email Format

Notification emails include:

  • Clear subject line
  • Event description
  • Direct link to relevant item
  • Unsubscribe option

Managing Email Subscriptions

To unsubscribe from emails:

  1. Click Unsubscribe in any notification email
  2. Or go to SettingsNotificationsEmail
  3. Disable email notifications

You can unsubscribe from non-critical emails while keeping important alerts enabled.

Activity Feed

Viewing Activity

The activity feed shows all workspace events:

  1. Go to Activity in the sidebar
  2. View chronological list of events
  3. Filter by:
    • Event type
    • Project
    • Member
    • Date range

Activity Details

Each activity entry shows:

  • Event Type - What happened
  • Actor - Who performed the action
  • Target - What was affected
  • Timestamp - When it occurred
  • Details - Additional context

Exporting Activity

For compliance and reporting:

  1. Go to ActivityExport
  2. Select date range
  3. Choose format (CSV, PDF)
  4. Download the report

Real-Time Notifications

How It Works

Global Watch uses real-time updates:

  • Notifications appear instantly
  • No page refresh required
  • Works across browser tabs
  • Syncs across devices

Browser Notifications

Enable browser notifications:

  1. Click the notification icon
  2. Click Enable Browser Notifications
  3. Allow notifications in browser prompt

Browser notifications require your browser to be open. For offline alerts, use email notifications.

Notification Rules

Creating Custom Rules

Set up custom notification rules:

  1. Go to SettingsNotificationsRules
  2. Click Create Rule
  3. Configure:
    • Trigger - What event triggers the rule
    • Conditions - When to apply the rule
    • Action - What notification to send
  4. Save the rule

Example Rules

High-Priority Asset Alerts:

Trigger: Asset Status Changed
Condition: New status = "Critical"
Action: Send email immediately

Weekly Project Summary:

Trigger: Weekly schedule
Condition: Projects with activity
Action: Send digest email

Do Not Disturb

Enabling DND

Temporarily pause notifications:

  1. Click the notification icon
  2. Click Do Not Disturb
  3. Select duration:
    • 1 hour
    • Until tomorrow
    • Custom time

DND Behavior

During Do Not Disturb:

  • In-app notifications are queued
  • Email notifications are held
  • Critical alerts still come through
  • Notifications resume after DND ends

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Not receiving notifications

  • Check notification preferences
  • Verify email address is correct
  • Check spam/junk folder
  • Ensure browser notifications are enabled

Too many notifications

  • Review and adjust preferences
  • Enable digest mode for emails
  • Use Do Not Disturb when needed
  • Disable non-essential notifications

Notifications delayed

  • Check internet connection
  • Refresh the page
  • Clear browser cache
  • Contact support if persistent

Email notifications going to spam

  • Enable in-app for all events

For Managers:

  • Enable email for team changes

  • Email for critical alerts
  • Disable in-app notifications

Notification Hygiene

  • Regularly review and clear notifications
  • Adjust preferences as needs change
  • Use filters to focus on relevant events
  • Archive old notifications
